It's a COLT!

Welcome to the world....'Tango' - April 27, 2010

Sire: Thanks For Com 'En (double registered TB/APHA stallion)

Dam: Spare Me The Details (brown/black AQHA mare loved and owned by me!)

Tango - fresh and new into the world after a long, traumatic delivery.
Taylor had a tough delivery. Tango was upside down with his head caught and was stuck for quite a while. The vet came out quickly and was able to turn him to the correct position.
It took two people to pull him out. He was huge! Poor Taylor had a rough time.
Taylor was too exhausted to stand and be nursed right away, so she was milked and Tango received his vital colostrum via a bottle. It took some convincing to show him later that WE were not the source of food, but Taylor was!
Thank goodness for great care - Brad Wallace of Hickory Lane Farm and the speedy veterinarian (I was too freaked out to catch his name, but he is from Findlay and very good!).
Check out that blaze! Tango has one hind white sock. He looks to be either a dark bay or brown, depending on how he sheds out later this summer. He doesn't have enough white for regular Paint registry, but that's OK...he's also going to be registered appendix Quarter Horse so all is good!
Taylor is finally awake and ready to welcome her new son.
Taylor is thinking "Get up already!"
You can see his lone white sock on the left hind.
Making an attempt to stand on his feet.
Taylor giving him a nudge to help him to his feet.
Almost steady on the feet!

Having had a foal before, Taylor is now a more experienced mom and isn't quite so startled at this alien child that appeared in her stall. Tango was up and finally nursing on his own around 4:45am. What a night!
Love...

Tango at OSU - April 27-May 1, 2010

Spending the first 5 days of his life in the hospital meant that he bonded strongly with people.
It was a LONG two nights. I went approximately 65 hours with only 3 hours of sleep. You do what ya gotta do sometimes...
Tango, however, got plenty of sleep!

During that long first night, Ashley taught him to drink from a bucket so he wouldn't have to be fed via the feeding tube as we waited for the nursemare to arrive.
Tango enjoyed curling up and sleeping with his new human family...namely ME!

Oreo the nursemare - an unknown horse of unknown age, unknown breed, smelly, dirty, and the most beautiful sight I have ever seen.
