A Product of Your Environment
I think we all are simply products of our own environment. We change and fluctuate like waves in the ocean depending on the tides, the wind, the weather, the atmosphere. Amazing how someone can spend time in a totally different place with different people and come back a changed person...if only temporarily. I suppose the inevitable part is that we all end up going back to our former, more natural selves. It just takes some people longer than others. Patience, my friend....patience! Good things come to those who wait...and make fewer waves.
This brings me back to the inevitable question - can people ever really change? I mean change, as in drastically change their basic personality...become a new person? The older I get, the less I believe true change is possible. I think surfaces can change, but the inner layers are pretty solid and it would take something major to break through and alter what is there. We are what we are...whether we like it or not! The trick is learning to like what we are...good and bad.
So the $1,000,000 question is - do you like who/what you are? Do I like who/what I am? The hard part is answering that truthfully, since we spend the majority of our day seeing ourselves through everyone else's eyes. Stop considering what someone else thinks, and consider what is deep within yourself. Tricky, I know!
