Taking for granted

The little things...

Interesting how we all take things for granted.

  • Being able to walk to the fridge to get another Diet Pepsi
  • Super Wal-Mart will always have Rold Gold Pretzels in stock
  • There is always a pencil somewhere within walking distance of your desk
  • The Ranger (with 155,000 miles on it) will start every morning no matter how cold
  • My cell phone has enough charge to receive that all-important phone call
  • Everyone will be sickeningly sweet on the Survivor reunion show
  • The online casino spam mail will show up in my e-mail inbox daily no matter how many times I block the sender
  • Mom always wants to take my phone call, no matter what weird time of the day I call or that she might actually be doing something important!
  • Corky's stall always needs cleaning. Even when it is freshly cleaned, it still needs cleaning
  • It will rain as soon as I have the wheelbarrow full and ready to push out to the manure pile
  • All of my body parts work (oh how I wish!)

The biggest thing we take for granted is our health. Oh sure, we are thankful daily for the biggies - being able to walk/breathe/stand/think. But what about the smallies - the things you do more infrequently but take for granted anyways...the things that are vital to your life and relationships but you don't really give it a thought until it is gone. The abilities you possess for years, and then are suddenl;y taken from you for some unknown reason. The realization that your comfortable little life may disappear in a puff of smoke because of your newfound handicaps. What if life disappears?

Wow, I am getting morbid now...time to recharge! I wish this rain would stop. Yes, it is still reainin...every day, every single day, nonstop. The grass is 6 inches high, the basement is wet, Pasta is miserable in her doghouse, very large mushrooms are growing in my horse trailer. I think my brain is getting moldy from the rain.
